They were launching a new third generation submarine rescue vehicle (SRV), and wanted a stress ball version of their new product for trade shows and events. This page details how we took JFD's supplied designs and images from a concept to a palm sized squeezy stress ball.

PRODUCT IMAGES SUPPLIED
JFD Ltd contacted us with their requirement for a custom stress ball in the shape of one of their new third generation submarine rescue vehicles. Here are some of the images supplied for us to provide a quotation, and production timescale estimate. The quotation was approved by the client and these images along with dimensions and other instructions were sent onto the factory for the next stage.
HAND SCULPTURED RESIN DESIGN
As there were many complexities to this design, a number of the extrusions, flaps, thrusters and so on, had to be simplified prior to moulding. This was agreed with the client prior to the order being submitted. Here are some images of what our master sculptures created as a male version of the SRV stress ball to create master tooling from. These were the final images after a number of alterations were required, where close attention to detail was required on specific proportional sizes of the dock and thrusters. These images were approved for master tooling to be produced.
PRE-PRODUCTION SAMPLES
After master tooling is produced, some initial samples are created (prior to mass production). These pre-production samples, are fully detailed with all colouring, spraying and printing of logos. The pre-production sample images were sent to the client by email, and were promptly approved for us to proceed with mass production.
FINAL PRODUCT IMAGES
After the approval of the pre-production sample images, we proceeded to make the mass production tooling, which includes metal mouldings, spray masks, and bulk prints. The factory then manufactured the stress submarine rescue vehicles, sprayed the details in black and pantone matched red, and applied two prints on both sides. The stress balls were then quality inspected before being packaged and delivered to the customer.
